Trinity Sunday falls in the Season of Time after Pentecost, the liturgical weeks that follow Easter and Pentecost as the Church lives out the implications of Christ’s resurrection and the coming of the Holy Spirit. This day celebrates the Most Holy Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — the one God in three persons. The rank “Double of the I Class” indicates a very solemn feast in the older divino_afflatu calendar: liturgically it outranks ordinary weekday observances and calls for fuller celebration, with its propers, prayers, and often special music. No octave or vigil is attached here beyond the single feast day.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
From the time of the apostles, becoming a Christian has involved a journey with essential elements: hearing the Word, accepting the Gospel through conversion, professing faith, receiving Baptism, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and admission to Eucharistic communion. The forms of this initiation have varied through the centuries. Today, adult initiation reaches its culmination in Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, while infant Baptism calls for continued instruction and a post-baptismal catechumenate so that baptismal grace may grow in personal life. As we reflect together, we can give thanks for the Church’s care in leading people step by step into the fullness of Christian initiation.
Baptism is a profound sacrament of faith that marks the person baptized as belonging to Christ and signifies liberation from sin. As families attentively follow its gestures and words, they are invited to see the riches that Baptism signifies and brings about: the sign of the cross marks the candidate with Christ’s redemption, and the proclamation of God’s Word calls forth the response of faith. Baptism itself signifies and brings about death to sin and entry into the life of the Most Holy Trinity through union with Christ’s Paschal mystery. The anointing with sacred chrism signifies the gift of the Holy Spirit, while the white garment and candle show that the newly baptized has put on Christ, risen with him, and been enlightened by him. As a child of God, the baptized person is oriented toward the Eucharist and can pray, “Our Father.”

Where infant Baptism has become the form in which this sacrament is usually celebrated, it has become a single act encapsulating the preparatory stages of Christian initiation in a very abridged way. By its very nature infant Baptism requires a post-baptismal catechumenate. Not only is there a need for instruction after Baptism, but also for the necessary flowering of baptismal grace in personal growth. the catechism has its proper place here.
