Time after Pentecost is the long liturgical season after Pentecost that focuses on living the Christian life in ordinary time — growing in charity, discipleship, and the Church’s mission. A “Feria” is an ordinary weekday of no special feast rank; it carries the normal weekday Mass and Office texts for that week. Thursday of Week 22 means this day follows the pattern of the twenty‑second week in Ordinary Time: the Scripture readings and prayers appointed for the weekday of that week are used, unless a higher ranked celebration occurs. This celebration matters because even ordinary weekdays form the rhythm of Christian life: small, regular acts of prayer and charity help shape faith, unite the household to the Church’s liturgy, and deepen attention to God’s call in daily routines.

The Way of Darkness

Gluttony
Gluttony is an unreasonable attachment to eating, drinking, or similar bodily satisfactions. Its disorder lies not simply in quantity but in allowing appetite to rule reason, damage health or duty, or place bodily pleasure above the good of the soul.

The Way of Light

Temperance
Temperance moderates attraction to pleasure and keeps the use of created goods within the order of reason. It does not condemn bodily goods, but prevents appetite from ruling the person or crowding out health, duty, charity, and spiritual good.

Catechism of the Catholic Church

The Catechism teaches that marriage calls spouses to a faithful, total, unique, and exclusive love, honoring the equal personal dignity of man and woman. Polygamy, adultery, divorce, and free union offend the dignity of marriage, while incest corrupts family relationships. Sexual abuse of children or adolescents entrusted to adults’ care causes grave harm to the young and violates the responsibility for their upbringing. Love is the fundamental vocation of every person, and Christ is the model of chastity; every baptized person is called to live chastely according to his or her state of life. Within marriage, spouses are called to faithful and indissoluble love, to receive fecundity as a gift and good of marriage, and to practice responsible parenthood through morally acceptable means.

In a so-called free union, a man and a woman refuse to give juridical and public form to a liaison involving sexual intimacy.

Some today claim a "right to a trial marriage" where there is an intention of getting married later. However firm the purpose of those who engage in premature sexual relations may be, "the fact is that such liaisons can scarcely ensure mutual sincerity and fidelity in a relationship between a man and a woman, nor, especially, can they protect it from inconstancy of desires or whim." Carnal union is morally legitimate only when a definitive community of life between a man and woman has been established. Human love does not tolerate "trial marriages." It demands a total and definitive gift of persons to one another.
