Generosity

Generosity in this English list renders the traditional fruit of longanimity, or greatness of soul in awaiting a delayed good. Under the Holy Ghost it sustains hope and steadiness through a long trial without allowing delay to produce discouragement or resentment.

Gentleness

Gentleness moderates force in dealing with others so that correction, authority, and ordinary speech remain governed by charity. It is strength made calm and considerate, not weakness or refusal to defend the good.

Faithfulness

Faithfulness is steadfast reliability toward God and toward rightful human commitments. It makes belief, promises, duties, and relationships stable rather than subject to convenience, mood, or pressure.

Modesty

Modesty governs outward conduct, speech, dress, and manner so that they express dignity, humility, and respect for others. It avoids both indecency and attention-seeking display by bringing self-presentation under charity and right reason.

Self-Control

Self-control is the Spirit-assisted mastery by which reason and grace govern impulses and appetites. It creates interior freedom, allowing a person to choose the good rather than being carried along by anger, fear, craving, or habit.

Chastity

Chastity as a fruit is the peaceful and mature ordering of the body and affections according to God’s design. It reflects purity that has become stable and spiritually fruitful through grace, faithful love, and self-command.
